a story about a monk..

I have read many stories which have give me positive motivation to face all my difficulties in my life. I always think that reading is not only help us to improve our vocabulary, it also give us motivation and inspiration on how we supposed to colour our life. Here i would like to share a true story about a monk who known as "Tang SanZang" or Xuanzang, a wise and learned scholar monk, to obtain Buddhist Sutras, who walked from China to India and from India back to China.

  {When Xuanzang was a small monk, he was trained to do a lot of tasks in one day. Everyday he was commanded by his master to wake up early to wash clothes, prepare breakfast, buy rice, read and memorizes buddha's scriptures, prepare dinner, wash dishes, sweep and mop floors. He had been practiced to do all the tasks for 10 years.
         One day, he was arranged to attend a talk with other monks to exchange their views about the Buddha's scripture. Through the discussion, he had the oppurtunity to exhange his life in this temple for 10 years. He was surprised that he was the busiest monk in this temple. He also discovered that  none of the monk in this temple went out to buy a bag of rice using the narrow and uneven roads to walk to market except himself . They used the other roads which was huge and kinda straight roads to walk to the market. They stressed that these roads were faster to reach market than the raod that he used to walk.
         After a talk, he was curious so he decided to ask his master about the matter. He wanted to know why his master trained him differently from the other monks. Then he master smiled and said "Look for me tomorrow morning."

Xuanzang went to see his master in the morning and he saw his master brought 2 little monks along. Then the master assigned these two little monks to do a task, which they needed to go to the market . One of the monk needed to use the long, narrow and uneven road to walk to the market to buy a packet of rice, wheareas, the other little monk needed to used the short, huge and straight road to walk to the market to buy a small packet of sugar.
       After a while, the little monk who needed to buy a packet of rice and walk a long, narrow and uneven road came back earlier that the little monk who buy a small packet of sugar and walk a short, huge and straight road. After the both little monks have arrived, the master asked the monk who bought a packet of sugar, "What are you thinking while you were walking back to temple? The little monk said " Oh, while i was walking, i noticed the bird sang beautifully and the weather was nice today, so unconciously i have taken my time to enjoy this beautiful scenario". Then the master asked to the little monk who bought a packet of rice, "What are you thinking while you were walking back to temple?". The little monk said, "Oh, master. i have not time to noticed and enjoy how the bird sang beautifully, in my mind, i just wanted to complete my task and reach to temple as soon as possible as the rice was so heavy and roads were long and far.}

After listened to the story, what do you think the master wants to prove to Xuanzang by asking the two little monks to do the tasks? Why do you think so? What does this story inspired you? Express your point of view not less than 30 words.

Process or Product?

Yesterday, when i was driving home, i heard a comment from a caller through radio.  He said, " Nowadays, people is more concerned about the result (the end product ) but not the process of completing the product". He furthered to explain, for instance, in my case, my boss always expected me to complete the task within one day, he never consider how am i going to complete the task as long as i able to complete the task on time. After hearing his comment, a question pop up in my mind - "it is true that most of the people are just concerned about the result (the end product)?
      Then this question make me to think more in deep... Do we eat because we want to get full (the end product) or because we want to enjoy the moment on how the food that we are eating make us feel full (process)? OR do we study because we want to get the good grade (the end result) or because we want to gain knowledge of the course (the process of studying.) Give you opinion about this - are you the person who concerned about the product or the process? Why do you say so? You may illustrate your opinion by giving example.
